System Builder version of Windows 7

I just bought a system builder full version of Win 7 on Ebay. Does any one know if there are any differences than the regular one?

The media itself is no different then a retail version. What is different is the license. It is tied to the hardware you install it on. You cannot transfer the installation to a new computer.

The system builder version is the OEM version. Technically, end-users are not supposed to use this version for their own computer...but it will work and activate.

Technically, you have to sell the computer that you build with an OEM copy of the software. Also, any problems have to be supported by you (the reseller), rather than calling Microsoft.

Hello Case1, welcome to Seven Forums!

If it is an OEM, it can never be moved to another PC as it's forever tied to the first motherboard it's installed to.

Thanks for all the replies. Will it work just as well as the regular version?

Thanks Bare Foot Kid! I notice you have Win 7 Ultimate. Is it faster than Home Premium or just more features?
