Desktop ICONS not functioning....Pls help

pls help.... a message box appeared on my screen and after i clicked yes, i noticed that all my desktop icons turned white and wen i try to click them, they will attempt to open with windows photo viewer which is always not successful because the windows photo view displays a message that says it cant open dis file. Normally, d icons should show d logo of the application and wen clicked, they should open the application but mine is not working dis way anymore. plsss i will greatly appreciate any help to fix dis. thank you.

What message appeared? Never click messages without reading them first. This is always a bad idea.

Hi seantorbalo,

Well, there's a number of things we need to explore in this situation, so we're going to need a bit more information. Can you please reply with when this message appeared, exactly what it said, and what you were doing at the time of occurrence. It's possible that malware has changed your settings to make your default program Windows Photo Viewer.

One quick thing I'd like for you to try would be, however, to click on the 'Start Menu' and type in 'Default Programs' and hit 'Enter'. Check to see if these settings are normal or if Windows Photo Viewer has been used here.

Thanks,
Harvey Meale
