Ok so i did reinstall windows. Ditched Firefox and started using Chrome. Much much better. I also ditched Sophos upon recommendations here and started using MSE. So far no freezes. Oh and something new, i forgot completely how to reformat my drive in DOS so I threw in the WIN7 disk to see what happens. And it reinstalls and saves all your old files to a folder called Windows Old. Um wow. So although I backed everything up it wasn't necessary this time round. So happily just dragging the files that I wanted to keep to the new libraries. So that was a win.

My new Windows 7 Ultimate update from Windows XP has made all my directories read only. This includes 2 external hard drives. The files in the folders are NOT read only. I have tried the following fixes but to no avail:
a simple updating of the check box in the folder
going to the properties...
Hey guys, I got a problem with Windows 7 that is about to make me go back to XP. I received my Dell Inspiron 1525 with Vista installed and hated Vista. Then I upgraded to Windows 7 and it automatically installed all the drivers and stuff...but I had some problems.

1.) Class menu is no longer available in windows 7...
2.) you can no longer make a tool bar dock on the right or left side of your screen which is my favorite feature of xp and vista....
