Hi Anthony, yes his mobo has an onboard chip (integrated graphics). It's very similar to the board in my server.
Thanks hammerhead, thought he meant he had integrated and a radeon hd

Sounds like something being shorted out on the motherboard.

I would go as far as rebuilding this from scratch checking everything as you go, ide cables, sata leads, and power connectors , and only attaching the components you need to install the OS, once installed add other devices one at a time.

    Good luck!!

Yes that's exactly what I mean. As for resetting the bios, this is usually done via a jumper on the mobo. Look in the installation manual and it will tell you how to do this.
Thank you for your help. Resetting the bios fixed the problem.

I have another question. Why would this occur that I have to reset the bios?

Haha, I bet you were a little p.o.ed, especially since you said it was a new build. Very glad your pc is back to normal.

Not very many things that I could think of, off the top of my head that would mess your bios up like that. There is malware that could do that, though. Run some malware scans from different apps to be on the safe side that your HDD(s) are clean.

malwarebytes, spybot search and destroy, XoftSpySE are good ones.

Glad you got it sorted. Could possibly be a bios issue. May be worth checking for an update.
