    Why my pc takes long time to "Shutdown"?


    My windows7 PC get more-than 3 minutes for Shutdown. When i click "Shutdown" button it show more-than 3 minutes "Shutting down...." screen
    So that i change it registry following value to 1200

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control

    As mention in Here but i can't still solve the matter. Please tell me how do i solve this matter!

    Hi udagama,

    It could be that you have your virtual memory (aka paging file, swap file) set to clear itself when you shutdown. Depending on its size, this could take some time. Check this Tutorial (it's for Vista, but also works with Windows 7): Virtual Memory Paging File - Clear at Shutdown - Vista Forums

    Although, the advice from Dwarf should solve the problem, here is another approach. Use the clean boot to test for the cause of the slow shut down. One of the startup programs may be slow to shut down, delaying the entire process.
