"Recent Items" not working

Hi,

I've got Recent Items set to show on the Start Menu and to store 16 items, but it always shows <empty>. What's more, the spinner for Jump Lists is grayed out, as though Recent Items is disabled.

Over at C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft there is no Recent Items folder.

I tried to jog things by disabling/enabling Recent Items, but to no avail.

Aha - I guess it would be good to turn it on, eh? I thought it was, since it was listed on the Start Menu. But it indeed was not.

And I see the Recent Items folder at C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent Items

Thanks much!
