Windows 7: Program Icons Vanishing

I turned on my laptop one day, to basically come across the same issue with numerous programs.

It's not just programs though, files which are related to a program with the problem have also been changed.



As you can see in the image attatched, a lot of programs have had their icons removed.. Thats not even 1/4 of the programs affected.

I'm pretty desperate for a solution to this, seeing as it looks silly as well as it being annoying.

So please, help.

The first thing i would do is get rid of Limewire/Frostwire.
These are bad news (Very Bad).


Then Download , update and run Malwarebytes .

You may then want to try rebuilding the icon cache:
Icon Cache - Rebuild

I've tried the Malwarebytes before, although, no harm in trying again seeing as I already have it installed on my cpu.

I'm also sure I've tried another method of the rebuilding the icon cache, but I'll use the .bat this time and give that ago, thanks for some suggestions.

EDIT: Upon doing both of them things ^ There has been no change
