Windows 7 Lag when Login and CTRL+ALT+DEL

Hey folks. I had this issue with a previous installation of windows 7 and fixed it, but i have NO IDEA where that answer is on the internet, or how I got to it.

I just reinstalled (the same build) Win7 Ultimate because i was getting gunked up with stuff, so a fresh install is nice.

Anyhow, i know the problem is not a drivers or build issue.

When i type my password to login AND/OR ctrl+alt+del, i get a black screen for 10-15 seconds.

i remember the fix being something very simple, but i dont remember what it is.

i searched the forums already and havent found my solution, so maybe you can help.

again, its not a driver/build issue, but as far as i remember just a simple fix.

also, im not using a solid color as background. thanks!

I wonder if your previous post has some bearing here. Did you install the larger of your HD's on its own or are you still using it on the USB external? If the latter try disconnecting it and then rebooting. See if the time lag is still there!

it doesnt have anything to do with the new HDD, although thanks for your research :)

The reasons I suggested that were:
    1. Its a very quick and easy test! Nothing lost if it doesn't help!
    2. The black screen you are experiencing can be caused by a number of issues and there is no guarantee that even if you remember what you did before that will cure it this time!
