Nope. No devices in error. Sooner or later, I'll catch it! Let you know the results. Thanks for this suggestion.

I am pretty sure that what you are seeing is the Bios boot screen txt when it post's, but I have to admit I am intrigued as to what it is

How can I view the BIOS boot screen text outside of the startup? I might recognize it that way. Thanks.

As soon as you start your computer start tapping the F2 key.

Also, in the bios settings is often a setting controlling how long the bios screen displays.

I looked at the bios settings, but nothing there lets me control how long the bios screen displays. That setting aside, I also don't see anything in the bios settings that shows me the screen text. Did I miss something there?

I'm beginning to think that the message is simply a message of a driver loading because the screen blips by as soon as I leave the bios settings and startup continues.

With blinding speed, precise timing and cat-like agility, I deftly pressed the Pause/Break button at precisely the right moment--finally.

The message is just, as Steve suggested, the bios boot screen text:

Intel (R) Management Engine BIOS Extension v6.0.3.0019

    Copyright stuff here......

Intel (R) ME Firmware version 6.0.31.1208

Problem solved. Thanks to all for helping me with this.

And many thanks to you for getting back to us with the answer to "who was that masked message?".
