Windows 7 - Windows Easy Transfer keeps popping up

Hi All,

Great forum you have here. I just recently did a clean install of Windows 7 Professional 64-bit on a computer I use for recording digital audio. For some reason, the Windows Easy Transfer dialog box keeps popping up, even though I'm not doing anything to initiate it. Any ideas as to how I can prevent this or disable it? I did a forum search before posting, and while I found a lot of threads about Windows Easy Transfer, I couldn't find any related to this specific issue. I'll be happy to provide additional details/technical info if requested.

Did you use EasyTransfer to import your files? Uninstall it.

Thanks. I did use WET under XP to back up my data, but only as a redundancy for a Macrium Reflect backup. I never used it to restore my files under 7, and I've since deleted the backup.

When you say "Uninstall it", could you tell me what you mean specifically? I took a look at my programs in Control Panel, and WET doesn't appear there. In addition, assuming you are talking about uninstalling WET, I'm wondering if that would be a good idea - unless, of course, there's some way I could reinstall it in the future if need be.

If you have a WET dialogue box popping up then there is at least a registry key installed to trigger it.

I would try to figure out what I ran or installed in Windows 7 that enabled that, install that again, then uninstall it with Revo Uninstaller in Advanced Mode to get all of the hidden leftover Registry keys and files.

That sounds like a good plan; I can't think of anything off hand that would be triggering it, but I'll give it some thought. In addition, similarly to taking a car to a mechanic, WET is no longer popping up since I began this tread. Perhaps whining about it was enough to make it go away.
