DO NOT INSTALL PARAGON PRODUCTS. destroyed win7 install Pretty damn amazed this even happened, I selected Defrag partition, it stated that it needed to restart to complete, since I was doing things I clicked cancel hoping to finish it later. The second I clicked cancel 100 error messages came up, the Paragon software showed 2 giant partitions and then the HDD spun down.
I'm now running Vista SP1 and intend to stay here. Farewell 7.

Why would you forsake Windows 7 just because of 1 piece of software? Personally i've only ever used Windows native defrag & it works fine. Not all defrag software is compatible with Windows 7, and I wouldn't trust anything other than antivirus software 100%
I use software at my own risk, if I have to re-install because of a piece of software then I don't use that software again & look for an alternative. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Compaq Desktop OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU AMD Sempron Dual Core Memory 3GB Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 Screen Resolution 1024x768 Hard Drives 150GB Sata |

Don't fault Windows 7, I've never installed a Paragon product since it hosed a RAID I had running XP Pro. I am pretty impressed by the resident defrag function in Windows 7. It works much, much faster than Rasco's Perfect Disk, which is what I used to use on Vista. And you can schedule the Windows 7 defrag just about anyway you want. It's all I need for defrag.
Now Windows 7 back & restore functions are another matter alltogether. I found it impossible, after booting up into repair mode from the installation disk, to access an image I had created on an external USB drive using the Windows 7 native backup function. Here Acronis TIH 2009 still rules and fortunately seems to be working flawless on my Windows 7 installation. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP DV8t quad OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 (Retail) CPU i7-Q 720 Motherboard Motherboard Chipset Intel Ibex Peak-M PM55, Intel Lynnfield Memory 6 GB Graphics Card nVidia GeForce GT 230M (1GB) Sound Card IDT High Definition Audio CODEC Monitor(s) Displays 18.4 inch HP Infinity FHD (Samsung 184HT03-001) Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard laptop Mouse Logitech VX Revolution Cooling Zalman NC-2000 notebook cooling pad Hard Drives Hitachi 500GB 7200 rpm (x2)

It moves files to the outside of the disk for faster reading which is good when you're using a 5400rpm notebook drive. Unfortunately As far as I know the windows software doesn't. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP DV2000 (Service tag 2613tu) OS Windozer 7 - 7068 CPU 1.5ghz C2D. I thought the Windows 7 defragmenter did move boot files to the outside and that's what it's doing with the several passes it makes while defragging. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell: XPS 420, XPS 420, XPS M1330, XPS M1330, Mini 9, Mini 10v OS Windows 7 RTM (TechNet), XP Pro x64, Vista x64, Ubuntu CPU Q6600, Q6700, T7500, T7500, N270, N270 Motherboard Dell Memory 4GB, 8GB, 4GB, 4GB, 2GB, 2GB Graphics Card ATI, nVidia, nVidia, nVidia, Intel, Intel Monitor(s) Displays Dell 2408WFP Keyboard Logitech Wave Hard Drives A drawer full.
