Program Files mirrored on desktop x2

Hi All! Excited to find this forum!

the Program Files and Windows folders show up on the desktop AND Program Files(x86), Users folders appear on the desktop twice..... THey are all linked, I have created files in one ad it shows up in all locations so I can't delete them. I have run Malwarebytes (quick) and found a Trojan downloader but they are still there. Have been for a while now and I don't know what to do.

    Any help would be great!

    Thank you!

    Eli

Hello Eli, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might see if doing a system restore using a restore point dated before this happened may be able to undo and fix it for you.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

I did this a long time ago and nothing - restored it to the earliest point. This actually happened almost 4 months ago and i searched for an answer, backed everything up but had to much work to have time for a system reinstall and update + apps etc.

I'm intrigued by this one and m not sure if i understand properly!. If all those folders and files show upon the desktop there can't be much room left. Is it possible to post a screenshot of your desktop here?

Sorry about the delay, got involved in too many other things!
Do you think it is possible that this has something to do with your backup software that I see was installed on 05-05-2010. You said this problem first occured about 4 months ago which ties in with that installation date. Is it possible that the software is backing up your folders to the desktop? I 've never heard of the software so have no idea how it works but it does beg the question of why you need third party backup software when you have Windows 7!
