    Remote Desktop Icon

    Hi all,

I had my Remote Desktop pinned to the taskbar, I added the Quick Launch and was going to add Remote Desktop to Quick Launch so I unpinned it from the taskbar and now it's gone. How do I get the icon back?

    Hello Dan,

    Please do the following:

    • Click the Start Orb
    • Type 'Remote' or 'Remote Desktop' whatsoever
    • Right-click the icon
    • Point to 'Send to' and click 'Desktop (Create shortcut)'
    • Once the shortcut is in your desktop, just drag it to your taskbar

    Hope this helps.

That's the first thing I did, but it is not there.

Do a System File Checker (SFC) scan:

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

I tried that, but didn't help. If I go thru Help and Support and search Remote Desktop I can access it, but I don't want to do that all the time.

Try to type the name in search, if it comes up, right click and pin to task bar or start menu

You can always use system restore to go back to how things were before the quick launch and have the remote pinned, but no quick launch. Then install quick launch but dont unpin anything.

    Hello Dan,

See if this may work instead:

    Click the Start Orb
    Type mstsc.exe
Right-click on the icon at the top in Start Menu
Point to 'Send to' and click 'Desktop (Create shortcut)
Move to your Quick Launch folder

If you wanted it on the taskbar as well, then right click on the shortcut (Quick Launch), and click on "Pin to taskbar".

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn
