To start I have used Brink's tutorial
Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP Method 2.
Windows 7 installed first XP second on same HD.
Now on to the lost part.
I had to reinstall XP after it had problems beyond repair. All hardware and drivers that were installed had been working fine up to the mess up.
So I install the XP, MS updates, download all the other stuff you need. Install all the newest ASUS drivers. The usual aggrevation.
Then the ADD HARDWARE wizard keeps telling me there is hardware that needs a driver. My thought is "What hardware?"

Click the wizard and it can't find any drivers and Device Manager only has four yellow flags stating- "Audio". Properties list no driver or hardware name.
Eventually after choice words were added to my new PC's vocabulary and a couple of hours of searching XP I went over to the Windows 7 Device Manager and I found that there are four NVIDIA sound drivers on my Windows 7 not installed in the XP.
I figured I only had one NVIDIA download so they had to be in there
IF I had them.
Back to XP and I found the probable drivers in the NVIDIA folder shown in the picture.
I right clicked the folder. At the top of that little window it showed "Run" not "Open".
Now most everyone that has opened and downloaded software has seen either "Run" or "Open" at the top or a box pops up giving you the choices "RUN or CANCEL" or "Open or Cancel".
Anytime I have seen "Run" at the top of the list after right clicking the software wasn't installed yet. "Open" at the top of the list after a right click the software is installed and ready to go.
So I figure, why not click run?
Device Manager was open along with the file as in the picture. Right click driver, click Run, 1-2-3-4 in pop the drivers in Device Manager.
For some reason the main installer skipped these four drivers.
I know most all the experienced people have seen or heard of this before. Your wisdom to add to this thread won't hurt one bit.
I just thought my "discovery" might give some insight to the less experienced as I am and was on this item until an hour ago.
Hope it helps someone down the road.
