You are going to have to get some media to boot the computer. If you dont have a restore dvd, or win 7 dvd it would be a good idea to get one.

Have you tried booting into safe mode (F8)?

Where does it hang or freeze, are there any error codes, etc.

Did your Win 7 come on your computer or did you load it yourself? If you loaded it yourself, how did you do it without a DVD?

Is there a Repair My Computer console on the F8 Advanced Boot Tools menu? Use it to run any offered Repair, then Startup Repair up to 3 separate times with reboots, or...

Burn a Repair CD on another computer, boot it to run offered repair then Startup Repair x3.

    System Repair Disc - Create
Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times

Why would you download XP instead of Win7? Which is the licensed OS that came with that machine?
