when sorting pictures they automatically go in 'descending order'

while working with pictures, when I click on 'view' then 'sort by' then 'day' to put them in order of being taken, it automatically also put them in 'descending' order which means they are in reverse order.
can anyone tell me how to stop this happening please.
    Thanks

Clicking the column header should reverse them. Also, in View - sort by - you have the option to choose Ascending or descending, but apparently only in 'Details' not 'icons' Why that should be I have no idea.

Thanks, not sure what you mean by column header though.
I can 'view' 'sort by' 'date' 'ascending' and that works with files and pics but if I go back in to click anything else it goes automatically to 'descending'! I know I can go back in and change it again to 'ascending' but I shouldn't need to do this each time should I? XP was no problem doing this.

    Hi

Also have a look at the following SF tutorials by Shawn:
File and Folder Arrangement - Change in Windows Explorer Window
File and Folder Arrangement - Group By - Sort By - Stack By

There's a lot more if you use the links in the tutorials.

Hope this helps and regards :)

You certainly shouldn't have to change it each time. Mine stays the same.

By column header I meant - if I click on 'Name' it reverses the column order.
