    There we go, tainted install.

I just got my first irritating major bug with my HTC SHIFT and windows 7 build 7127 x86, i have this SDHC memory card from verbatim, class 6 which i used for readyboost with build 7100 and now when i insert it i get the popup run menu asking me what to do and i press readyboost, it opens the properties window for the memory card and you have it all there, tools, customize and such but no readyboost.

so what now? only way to fix this is to format yet again? the shift only has a gig of ram so for once readyboost would be of use. when i insert the said SDHC in my desktop pc i can use it for readyboost...build 7100 x64 on that one.

Readyboost is fine here, so it's not a build problem.

Make sure the Superfetch service is set to auto and running. Type services.msc in the start menu search box to check.

Other than that, you should be able to right click the drive, choose properties and then see the readyboost tab.

    Good luck.

    Superfetch
service is as it should be.

I am currently sloooow formatting the card and hope that will help, no in the "choose properties and then see the readyboost tab. " that tab was missing, it worked, then it didn't...so is there a way for windows to forget? i mean when first you insert a flash memory it installs it but never again, so it must remember the hardware, right?

nope didn't help. well it's not the card that's inadequate but a glitch in the installation itself, so there must be some way for windows to forget it?

the ONE time I wanted this feature....oh interesting development. i was taking screenshots of the first popup you know the autorun window and then the lack of readyboost so i saved the screenshots on my desktop and copied and pasted them onto the memorycard to move to my desktop for upload here. and i got this practically immediately "an unexpected error is keeping you from moving the file. if you contine to recieve this error, you can use the error code to search for help with this problem.

Error 0x80070079: The semaphore timeout period has expired.

Now i have done complete defrags, scan disks and no errors reported. still not a build issue?
