Can't speak for the OP, but I want my recent items to show. I personally don't see this as a problem I need solving, but rather an interesting glitch. I'm just confirming the OP isn't alone, it happens

I do believe that A Guy did indeed explain it. I do indeed want to see the recent used programs, but would like to get rid of the one's I don't. Currently unable to do that. To make matters worse, on was removed under admin account and was gone. The next time I went back to Admin account it was back and wouldn't let me remove it without a reboot. It it a pain, but now that I know I am not alone, lets me know that this particular issue is me going crazy. Thanks for all the help. I'll live with it till Windows fixes it.

    Hello mate.

Try removing the entry in the start menu then uninstall the app, that should sort it.

But BFK, the OP says he wants to keep the program, just delete the entry in the start menu!

    Hi BFK
Don't want to make a big issue here as this is such a tiny problem if it is a problem at all but I see you quoted A Guy and as I see it he doesn't want to un-install the programs either. His experience is slightly different in os far as the start menu entry keeps re-appearing or have I got he wong end of the stick?

Lol, it's not a problem, it's an oddity. After installing a program, it shows on the start menu as recently used, we're not talking about the all programs list. It shows as if it is pinned to the start menu, and can't be removed like any recently used program listing can. After a reboot, then it can be removed. I just happened to mention that for me, it may again pop up as a recently used program on next restart.

We want the program, we want it to show as recently used. We'd like for it to not show if not recently used, or if it does, to be able to right click and remove it from the recently used list. For the OP and I, sometimes we are unable to right click and remove it from the list, unless we reboot. Again, I'll say, it's not a problem that needs fixing, but rather a windows oddity that is merely an inconvenience.

I'm not sure the OP request but I will give it a shot. If the new program is listed when just going to start, right click and unpin from start menu. It will be under All Programs. If it is just there because it has been used and it's not wanted there. Right click on the Start go to properties, start menu and there are two choices for you to select.

Hey to all who have replied to my little issue. I do believe that A guy seems to be exactly the symptoms I see occurring, so I will just live with it for now.
It's weird though, now a program I used and removed from the list after a reboot, has started appearing by itself. It will not remove until I reboot again.
