    Desktop Icons Changed!?

    Hello,

Restarted and Windows 7 desktop icons are now partially obscured by what looks to be some kind of 'preview' page, or something (small page-like display at lower left corner of icon with a dog-ear on the top right).

What happened and how do I get rid of these...it's annoying the %$#@* out of me!

    Thanks!

If you have a restore point before this started, that may be the best fix.

    System Restore

If not, you can try rebuilding your icon cache:

    Went back using System Restore.

I used a program to remove the Desktop Icon 'arrows' & it removed the arrows but gave me something worse!

    All ok now..

Great, now you can do it correctly if you wish (make a system restore point 1st, lol)

Strange, it seems it's for Vista, perhaps it may cause stability issues.

If Ozzie still wishes to do the tweak, I can make a very good software recommendation.

    Vista Shortcut Overlay Manager program.

It was for Vista...but I was informed it would work for 7 also...not the case, it seems...

    Sure...I'll take anything that works!

I use a program, TuneUp Utilities, you can change Windows 7 settings which are hard to find. I strongly recommend it. Alas, it isn't free, but it works great.

If you want a free program, I could search for one if you wish.
