Windows 7 Folder Ownership

Hi All,
I supplied a friend a new PC with Windows 7 installed. I also supplied Acronis True Image Home 2010 for backup purposes. I wanted to test the backups so I took an image of the system (using Acronis) and saved it to my USB hard drive. I plugged it into my Windows 7 PC which I also run Acronis True Image 2010. I mounted the image which was successful. I want to access the "users" folder. So I tried taking ownership of the folder but it displays "you only have permission to view the current owner on..."
I want to be able to access the users documents, photos etc to make sure I can recover files in case of a system crash.

Any ideas on how I can do this?

OK, so I tried to take ownership but displayed the error as mentioned. Where do I start the process to allow me to take ownership of this folder?

Well, I tried the tweak and restarted the PC. I right clicked on the users folder and chose "take ownership" but no go. It pops up with a command window for about a second. I can just make out the error message which says "permission denied or invalid access".... any ideas?

It may work better if you adjust the drives permissions settings and more importantly go to the Security tab and adjust the Security settings before the drive image is created on the other machine.

I will check tonight to see if the mount is read only. I suspect it may be causing me the issues...will keep you all informed... thanks.
