Strange Disk Activity Hello,
Was wondering if some one knows what all this disk activity is usually at the end of the day when the system is idle. It's not disk defrag, defender, or any other type of scan. It sounds like when a disk defrag is running only quieter. It's constant and can run for over an hour, yet usually its not enough activity to light the hd activity light. According to the performance monitor it's almost always writing with next to no reading, which sounds strange because if its not reading from anywhere, whats it writing? Also note this is when the pc is not connected to the network. I run ccleaner a few times a day and always at the end of the day, yet many entries in the performance monitor show files relating to internet use.
Any idea's whats going on here? Attachment 12063

Hmm, mine does that every now and then, and eventually stops and sits in idle.. I'm wasn't sure what it was at first, but i found out its my diskeeper doing its automatic defragmentation..
If you have this program that may be the case..

I thought about indexing too, but what could it be indexing relating to internet cache. All of that should be deleted. When I look at per. mon. things like history, temp internet, and cookies are always at the top. Thats with having it display items with the most activity at the top.
Just took a look at the index ui, and it has indexed a lot more in the last couple of days. When I last checked it was around 450 items, now its at over 6,200.
I'll turn it off and see what happens.
Thanks for the help. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number POS OS OS3.5 CPU celery Motherboard Good Question ...Unknown Memory memory never forgets Graphics Card OB Sound Card OB Monitor(s) Displays HUGE Screen Resolution 168000000x105000000 Keyboard OB Mouse mouse PSU OEM 65watt Case N/A Cooling OB Hard Drives full Internet Speed 1 Trillion MBps Other Info Still An Awesome Forum! |

Bum-Bow, you should be doing it the proper way..
Control panel, programs, programs and features, and turn windows features on or off, and turn it off from there, gets rid of it completely.
