Create shortcuts without " - shortcut"

When I make a shortcut I choose copy and then paste shortcut.

The name of the shortcut get the text - shortcut in the end. I just want the name of the file because I see on the icon that it is a shortcut.

Is there any settings to change this?

It's not a huge problem but I create a lots of shortcuts and I get sick of changing filenames :)

Hi Scratchy, and welcome to SevenForums.

    The process is quite simple:

Shortcut Extension - Remove or Restore

    1. Open the Registry Editor. Click the Start button, type regedit, and press Enter.

    2. If a User Account Control dialog box appears, click "Yes".

    3. Navigate to the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer

    4. Double-click the name "link", changing its value to 00 00 00 00.

Good job! I was having problems because I was always running Regedit.exe in admin. mode. I needed to run it as my reduced-user mode (which I normally use.)

    Thanks again!

In Windows 10 you do not need to sign out/in to apply. A simple restart of the explorer process is all that is needed. The downloadable .bat file does all this for you.
