    Explorer.exe: Where is it?

I'm currently in the process of replacing my start orb with a custom one. The graphics are all finished but now I'm at the point where I need to locate C:\Windows\Explorer.exe to take ownership of it. The problem is, I can't find it. In folder options, I have "show hidden files" checked. I also have "show file extensions" checked. I'm logged in as administrator but when I go to C: and then to the windows folder, Explorer.exe doesn't exist. I tried the search feature and....nothing. What's going on? I don't want to use an orb changer program, I want to do it manually. It's Windows 7 Pro, BTW. Thanks.

I suspect you've changed its location in the process. Look for explorer.bak. Or run an sfc scan, that'll probably kill all your customization though.

Not sure what I'm seeing, there. Is that your Windows folder? I'm not looking for explorer, I'm looking for "explorer.exe" so that I can take ownership of it but I can't find it in the Windows folder.

follow pusspa's advice - if that doesn't help, try bill's...

This is explorer.exe ,if you right click it ,properties/open file location .
there are several ways to find it as you have been shown ,personally i find this way quicker.
Note: my explorer.exe button is black whereas yours may still be original yellow folder colour
also its a file not a folder you are looking for
Also you could just take ownership of the windows folder ,thus taking ownership of the contents including Explorer. exe

Pusspa, thanks, I will try that and see what happens. It's a fairly new install and I haven't done much tweaking. I don't see how the folder could have been moved. I'm the only person that uses the PC.
