pause for a second every right click

Every time I right click or middle click in windows 7 my computer pauses for a second before anything happens. This computer has a core i7 processor and 6gb of ram, so needless to say this should not happen.

This one second pause happens no matter what application I'm in or if I'm just on the desktop. It's not a huge problem except during gaming when the game pauses for a full second before I can see anything happen again. This is often long enough for me to die in fps's if I'm not lucky.

Has anyone heard of or experienced any kind of similar problem? Or does anyone have any idea what might cause such a problem?

What type of mouse are you using? If it's battery powered, change the batteries and see if it makes a difference. If it's wired, try a different port.

If it persists, open task manager (right click task bar> Task Manager) and right click your desktop, and watch the processes (or even go into performance monitor) and see if any processes are going rogue.

I had already done most of that, including trying two different mice, but I hadn't gone to the processes tab and watched what happened if I right clicked. When I did that I saw that a process associated with a third mouse, a wireless air mouse I use to control my computer from my bed, had a process that used about 5% processor when I right clicked.

I ended that process and right clicking is now instant.

Thanks very much for your suggestions.
