Windows 7 Major Issues

Hey guys, i hope you are doing well!

Im trying to fix a friends computer, and have basically no experience with windows 7.

His original issue was black screen after rebooting, wouldnt load windows, even in safe mode. So i was going to do a factory reset offered by toshiba, and i was mid process through that when the power died on the laptop (friends plug was on a switch and he didnt tell me it wasnt on.

so now windows boots and immedately blue screens and restarts.

so i got a hold of a windows 7 CD and tryed to reinstall the OS, it installed and said it needed to reboot, it rebooted and blue screened like it did previously.

and i cannot get system repair to come up when i hit f8 on boot. just safe mode options etc.

Also, it seems to have two windows 7 OS's on it atm, both blue screen.

Shut down first,Try this unplug from power and remove battery and hold down the power button for 10 seconds, release, then let sit, plug back in the ac power cord, no battery yet. and try starting up may work had one that was like the one you are having the problem and this fixed it. Since you tried all the other install's this may not work but it might.

i will try it, thanks!

yes, everything is gone, but the two windows 7 partitions.
I guess what I menat was, is there any data left on the drives that the owner of the computer would like to save?

If not, proceed as described above but know you will lose everything currently on the drive.

one question about partitions, do i want to delete all 3 of them?

one is a "system" partition, its small.
the one i already deleted. the main one.
and the other one is the hddrecovery which i believe is tanked.

also the install seemed to work, except i have 3 windows 7s on startup listed.

Did you follow the tutorial I posted earlier? That would reset the entire drive and you would no longer have 3 start-up choices. The boot partition, or more specifically the boot-manager on that partition, has retained evidence of all of your installation attempts.

I would do a complete wipe of the drive following the tutorial SSD - HDD Optimize for Windows Reinstallation and then reinstall Windows.

Afterward you should have just the latest install as your choice on boot-up.

Is it possible that the manufacturers recovery partion wasn't tanked and itwas just the partition that was being written to ie c:\ that was tanked during the power down? If so a recovery procedure should be available from the manufacturers website?

Just a thought...
