when i turn on thers a blank screen saying f2 and f12,iv,e pressed both and nothing happens,just a other blank screen saying no bootable devices, i connected a external hard drive and put a windows disc in to try reinstall windows,but still nothing ,windows goes through the motions,and then says something about not been able to find a hard drive, please help
Sounds like your Hard drive is toast. Did it make any noises?
Please fill in your system specs and give more detail like did it work fine one time and next boot it didn't, or did you try to reinstall and it won't? It could be your HDD cable(IDE or SATA cable). We need more info to really help you though.
Maybe it jarred the cable loose. Have you opened up the case to check all the cable running to your HDD? It shouldn't be the driver because it would ask for it. If it says it doesn't find a disk then your cables came loose or your hard drive is toast. If it has a DVD or CD drive you could run hirens boot cd to check the hard drive for errors, or run a live linux distro to check. http://www.hirensbootcd.net/download.html

its a zoostorm freedom,mini laptop,160gb sata,processor intelatom,60gz,ram 1gb,windows xp with no cd,dvd drive,from argos,page568, thanks
Enter BIOS setup using key given on first boot screen. See if your HD registers in SATA devices. If not, go to the Support Downloads webpage for your exact model computer and read the Manual for how to reinstall or replace your HD.
If the HD registers in BIOS, download and burn to CD the HD maker's diag/Repair CD scan, boot and run a full scan as it can repair or tell you what's wrong with your HD: Hard Drive Diagnostics Tools and Utilities (Storage) - TACKtech Corp.
Next try booting the Win7 DVD or Repair CD to run Startup Repair repeatedly to see if it can fix the problem: Startup Repair
System Repair Disc - Create
Now boot back into DVD/Repair CD to open a Command Line to run Disk Check
Just a dopey thought..you haven't got a non-bootable CD or DVD in the drive and the drive selected as first in the boot devices list have you?
It is a netbook and has no DVD or CD drive. Can you open it up and make sure the Hard Drive hasn't been knkocked loose? Longshot since in lappy's they are pretty secure, but worth a shot. Is it still under warranty? You may have to buy a new laptop Hard Drive for it if it is broke. Is it registering in BIOS? You could still download Hiren's Boot CD and put it on a USB stick after making it bootable, plug it in, start up netbook and go into the BIOS and select USB drive as first boot choice. Then use Hiren's to scan drive for errors. I seriously think that dropping it make your hard drive fail.
when turned on,it says f2 go to set up utility.or f12 go to boot manager,then if you leave it it comes up no bootable device found if you press f12 it goes to boot manager,and asks to select a option,but thers nothing to pick,if i conect my external hd,it comes up on the screen,and i select it and start the windows instalation, but when it gets to the bit where u pick install or repair,it just says cant find hd
