Left-hand bar in Explorer or Browse Files boxes to look like XP.

So, the left-hand bar is supposed to represent the desktop, and the contents on it, like in XP. I'd like to make it look more normal.

    1. I want to remove: libraries, favorites, homegroup, and network. When you remove them, they just come back. Even if they aren't on the desktop. What gives?

    2. I want to add My Documents above My Computer. And have My Computer defaulted to being opened (so I can see my drives.)

    3. I would like the Recycling Bin to appear.

    4. I would like "Desktop" to be atop the list, as that is how it makes the most sense to me.

Is there a way to re-enact this through Libraries? Or to actually make it happen? Or a different program? What's the deal though, the Windows 7 look is so... illogical and unorganized and cluttered.

Folder Options > General tab: Navigation Pane > Check "Show all folders"
Then collapse the parts you do not want to see and close the window.

Show all Folders makes things look a lot more normal. Now any idea how to hide or remove the lot of those options? Or to start with the My Computer option displayed? Or to get my "My Documents" folder to display "My Documents" instead of my name?

No, No, The folder with your username is not My Documents it resides in side this folder so...No.

Hey buddy. I want it, above "Computer" (which I would rename My Computer) to say "My Documents". I want it to say that. I will delete the internal My Documents. What is your problem with my personal preference?

I have no problem I am just giving it to you straight. Should I lie and paint everything with rainbows and fluffy bunnies for you?

So you understand my response I'll break it down.

What on Earth dude? You can hide or remove a lot of those, I found out how, so off the bat you're giving false information.

I am sure there is a way to start with My Computer displaying out. I just have to find out how.

And I have found how to rename Favorites, Libraries, Homegroup, Computer, and Network. So I am sure renaming "User Name" is very possible. And past that, I don't understand your ire over the situation. If I rename "User Name" to "My Documents" and then delete the internal "My Documents" folder, what do you care? What did I do to ruin Windows 7?

You asked do I have any idea how..., you didn't ask if there was a method.
And I don't know cause I don't care to look for a method.

I am sure there is a way to start with My Computer displaying out. I just have to find out how.
    Then find one.

    Well then do it?

Who said I cared? I don't. I'm only giving you information. I could careless what you do. So why the attitude? But like I said should I paint everything with rainbows and fluffy bunnies for you?

It's not "rainbows and fluffy bunnies", it's "peaches and cream"

I wish I could turn off the navigation pane on a folder by folder basis
