A lock on some file in my documents

Why are there locks on some of my files in Documents? And also the files from my desktop and documents showup in the video file. If I delete it in videos, it deletes it from my desktop??
I didnt see this in my search, so sorry if it has been discussed before.

Welcome to Seven Forums billybob76. Are you sharing these folders on a Homegroup? If not, try this:

Right click on a folder with the lock> Click on Properties> Click on Sharing tab> Click on Advanced Sharing> Untick Share This Folder> Apply and OK your way out. Repeat for other folders.

As for the other issue, are you saying you see duplicate files from your desktop and documents folders in your video folder? It seems that you file paths may be wrong. A Guy

Looks like you do not have permission to view those.
Are you the admin of the computer?
Are you a single user of the computer?
If you are a single user you do not need to
go to public folders so it is turned off.
If you are just a user of the computer you
need to ask the admin for rights.
I know it all sound hard to understand. (got a headache just explainung it)

You put me on the right track. I figured it out. Right click. Go to properties. Then Security. Then Click the Edit tab and check full control. You may also have to go to the security tab, then advanced. If it says deny everyone you have to delete this profile. For some reason it DID in mine. Looks like I have alot left to figure on this Window 7 stuff.
For my first inquiry, I find this site to be vrey helpful. I will definatly be hanging around. Thanks for the help.

Aren't those the junctions or something? If I'm not mistaken I see them in any new account, even admin ones. That's why you see two "My Documents": one with the shortcut and one with the lock. I'm not sure if regular users see them as I've set my explorer to not hide anything.
