No "Install" choice

When I have tried to install a font there is no "Install" in the drop down. I open the Zip file, then try to install. Not there like it was with Vista.

Did you try unzipping the file and then installing the font?

Yes. That is what I did but I could not install it. In Vista there was that option. I just can't find it in 7!!

What happens if you try to open the font? Do you get the option to print or install it? Also, are you logged in as administrator?

No, I do not get either option. When I try to open the font I get a window that tells me to update Irfanview plugins. If I go there it tells me that there is no update.
This seems very strange that I don't get the options that I should get.
Yes I am the administrator and assume that I am always logged in that way since I am the only user of this computer.

Irfanviewer? That reminds me of when I was at college in 2001. It was messing up file associations back then and I guess it still is nine years later. When you double click open a font, it should load a special preview of it in various sizes. Irfan viewer has probably high jacked its file association.

Try this. Type shell:fonts into the the Start/search field an hit Enter. That should open the Fonts folder into which you can drag the font (unzipped) from the desktop.

Thank you all for your responses. I have figured out how to do it. I did go to Irfanfiew and installed plugins. I had some and thought that was all I needed, but guess it was not. Then the font opened and another little window appeared in which I could open the font in windows and there was the option to install. I checked and it worked.
Strange that Microsoft would make it so difficult when it was so easy in Vista. Would be nice if they would combine some of the good things instead of deleting what was better before.
