WOW, I guess I need to learn some more about Video Cards..

I'm in dispute, can an Nvidia board, accept ATI cards as long as its the same slot.

    Lets say I have
    GIGABYTE GA-M57SLI-S4 AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI
    can I add, this GPU
VisionTek 900196 Radeon HD 2400PRO 256MB 64-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready Low Profile Video Card

Nvidia and ATI are just the makers of the GPU chipset. Basically Intel and AMD.

If you have PCIe Slot on your motherboard, you should be able to use whatever card you want. I am running an Nvidia GTS450 on my ATI chipset mainboard.

It will work just fine. As to why you would want too, unless your 8600 GT in your specs is dying the 2400 Pro would be a step backwards,

No, its not dead. Just some examples.

Just had no clue you would mix these up, but if lets say for instance I wanted to get SLI then yes I would need NVidia cards, because I wouldn't be able to get CrossFire.

Yes, if you want to use two graphics cards together, ATI's communication interface is Crossfire, Nvidia is SLI, if I remember correctly.
