Indexing and searching external drives

Is there a way that I can search and index external drives and USB flash drives from the Start button search?

Yes. Open start, type "index" and from the results, click "index options" you can add or remove anything you want to the index from there. Just make sure that your external drives and flash drives are connected and recognized, first.
