Exactly. They don't want to broaden out, they're missing out on something (IMO) great.

Tell him that W7 has XP mode

p { margin-bottom: 0.08in; } Taking a look at the pissing match that's it's turned out to be I'm seeing that it looks like his problem is more about having to justify the fact that he doesn't have any experience with Windows 7 or the means to obtain it, so it must be no good, lol.

The comments about gaming performance really do prove that he's clueless.

To the OP. Go to Start and type in activation and you will see Windows activation update, tick it and see what you get. This may or may not be what the problem is but it's easy and free to do.

I know absolutely nothing about this subject. But, what I do know is that very time you go to windows website to look up a subject I get a message that tells me that this article is about a different OS than the one I am running. That tells me that every time you go to MS, they are reading your configuration- and perhaps the validation.

Point is none of this is a hassle if you have legit software.
That's the OP's answer. If you use legit software, you don't have this issue.

Take off your tin foil hat and sunglasses, and think about it logically. MS checks your OS version when looking through some support sites so you are only given answers relevant to the OS you are using. *Gasps* They do the same thing when you go to the website to download MSE.

If Microsoft did check if my Windows is legal I don't care. Do they do that when I go to there site, I don't know. It would be like getting mad a Cops for looking for stolen cars.

Just tell that guy to piss off, you like Windows 7 and if he doesn't you don't care.

There is nothing wrong with 7, even compared to XP.
7 is soooooo smooth compared to XP. Problems have been trivial.

    GRRRRRRRRR Piss off!!!!!!!!

There were many that hated on Vista when it came out as well.

And while some had legitamate reasons for the negative feedback, there were many who were just echoing what someone else said.

Even though they themselves had never actually used the new OS, at the time.

If XP is running so much smoother than 7, I can only think of 2 reasons why.

    1) Doesn't have the minimum Hardware to run it properly, and needs to fall back to XP to prevent choking the PC.

    2) Used a badly cracked version of 7, giving a bad impression.

or, its also possible they never tried it and just echoing the negative others have said.

"Periodic Reauthorizations" sounds more like a gripe about UAC to me than activation.
I know I've heard that plenty of times.
