No history or task on programs

    Hello

You know one can acces to the recent files/folders on explorer or other programs by right-clicking on them in the taskbar.
For some time, I've no more list, nowhere. I've no more history when I right-click on Explorer (or other programs such as Notepad, Paint) in the taskbar. And the tasks associated to programs such as Media Player don't work : I click on them and... nothing.
    However it's worked properly before.

Do you know what is the problem and how to repair ? (I've the impression a registry key is missing or similar problem )

    Thanks

    Hello Spr07,

Double check in Default Programs to make sure that Windows Media Player is set as the default program with all of it's associations set to it.

I'm not sure about the history problem. If this is what you mean in the link below, then it may help you. It is the same in Windows 7 as in Vista.

If these problems have not happened to long a go, you may be able to do a System Restore using a restore point dated before the problem to fix them.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Also, did you run CCleaner and clear out the MRU entries that it found? Because MRU stands for Most Recently Used - another word for that is 'history' as you called it.

    Thanks for your advices.

I finally found why I had this "problem" : in the taskar properties, the "Store and display recently opened itmes in the Start menu and the taskbar" option was unchecked. I checked it and it works :).

But tasks in Media player don't still work, even if the program have all of it's associations set to it. It's no very important but it's strange (I've the same problem with Live Messenger 2009 and Getting started...)

    Spr07,

You might try a System Restore using a restore point dated before this Media Player problem to see if it can fix it.

I already tried a system restore but I've no point dated before the apparition of this problem.
I don't know how to fix it but I can do without that...
    Thanks again :)

Edit: eventually, Tasks and Frequent list for Media Player and Live Messenger 2009 don't work, and I've no restore point which can fix the problem.
Do you have any idea please? (I'm on build 7000.)
