This issue has almost certainly been discussed before but I'd like to know why ActiveX scripts are challenged by Internet Explorer 9, (and all previous incarnations), and not by other browsers.
Wasn't ActiveX a Microsoft alternative to JavaScript?
Activex is an IE propreitary format, thats why.
Firefox E.g. doesnt implement activex unless you install a plugin. Reason for that is that activex's integration with windows makes it a potential security target and also because pages that require activex wouldnt load properly on non-windows OSs like linux/mac.
