Do you think the mouse might be the problem?

Exactly, how old is this mouse and what make and type is it. Ball type, optical, laser, usb or wireless ? Best to even borrow a mouse from someone and see if it's just in the mouse.

In my first post, I suggested that you test the mouse. That should be the first step.

I found it and clicked on properties and disabled something called Startup type.
Reboot and see whether it helps.

Don't know but surely this is the easiest test in the process of elimination!

Whs's plan didn't work. I will try a new mouse and see if it helps.

Well lets go down another route. As you haven't completed your system specs i am unable to see the age of your PC! Does your mouse plug into a PS/2 connector or USB. If the ormer try putting a USB mouse on. If he latter have you swopped USB connectors. I'm thinking, the problem does not appear to be software, virus, or mouse so that just leaves where the mouse connects to the PC. Full specs would help!
