My mobo has an intel chipset. I really can't explain the SS or power management not working. The secondary issue I discovered is that if I force the pc to sleep, it doesn't want to wake up. I had to go through a reboot/recovery process to bring the pc back to life. Could be this proprietary stuff my pc has. Branded bios and such. Which among other things won't allow me to OC

@octomobiki - if your pc is coming out of sleep by itself, it could be "wake on lan" settings for your network adapter. Go to your device manager, find your network card, right click it, properties, power management, untick the box that says "allow this device to wake the computer". See if that helps.

I am having problems with power management and screen saver on my laptop . Turns out my microsoft wireless mouse is causing the problem. W7 automatic updates in not bringing up the option to install .....HID non-user input data filter to fix the problem. Got the fix now I just have to figure out where to put it(not a self install file).

Wont allow install. I get "windows has determined that your driver is up to date" message.

    you havent updated anything correct??

if not then/and even if you did

go the same steps to the device manager....

go to the update screen and also browse my computer for driver software...

there click "let me pick a list of device drivers on my computer..."

click after that have disk and then point to the inf (system information file nuidfltr)
file and then it should give a list (or just one depends on the driver software software)

pick the closest one (or the one you know is your hardware....)
    then click next....
