Recent Places add to Start Menu and Taskbar?

I see recent ITEMS there but would like to recent folders as well. Office 2010 (and 2007 I think) has a great option called Recent that calls up recent Folders. Seeing recent folers is often more important to me that specific items/docuemnts. Way to add it?

In the Windows Explorer 'Favorites' section (at top of left pane), drag the Recent Places icon to the Start Menu orb. It should automatically pin it to the Start Menu.

Brilliantly simple. I should have knew to try that. However, it only appears on the apps/left side of the start menu. Would like to get it on left side where, when mouse over it, menu of folders opns out.

Don't know if that's possible, given that it's a system link rather than a folder. Maybe someone will will come along who knows a way to accomplish this.
