Windows 7 doesn't read USB Drive

Hallo,

My Windows XP reads a 1GB Kingston Flash Drive but my Windows 7 doesn't.

I have scanned it and formatted the Flash Dive but nothing works.

Any help is appreciated!

What did you format it to?

And do other devices work in the same USB port?

@ Petey7: I just right clicked and chose format; I'm not sure what you mean by "what did you format it to?"

@ James Colbert: All other devices work in USB, including another Kingston 2GB Flash Drive that works just fine.

If you formatted it as NTFS, try formatting for FAT32 instead.

If you know it is properly formatted (FAT32), then right click on My Computer and select Manage. Then, go to Disk Management and see if the drive shows up in the list of drives available at the middle-to-bottom part of the page. If so, you might just try right clicking on the drive and manually assigning it a drive letter.

Change, add, or remove a drive letter

By "what did you format it to?" I meant what file system. FAT32 and NTFS have been mentioned so far. Other files systems include FAT, exFAT, HFS and UDF. Your best bet is FAT32 or NTFS for it to be readible by all computers.
