Size of Icons on Welcome Screen

I've got multiple users and the icons on the welcome screen are small. I would like to increase their size, but I have not been able to find a way to do it. Can anyone give me a hand?

My only guess would be to increase the size of the icons across Windows as a whole, but I'm not even sure if that would do it and that might be annoying for everything else. Here's a couple links that should get you going:

How to Change Font Size & Icon Size in Windows 7 - Windows 7
How To Resize Desktop Icon In Windows 7 or Vista

Perhaps give the both of those a go to see if they work until someone else comes along with an answer that might be better suited to your problem.

I've tried both of those. They don't change the welcome screen icon size.

Those are BMP pictures and are located at C:/ProgramData/Microsoft/User Account Pictures/Default Pictures

I have not tried it but MAYBE you can increase the size of one of the pictures and give that a try.

I don't think that's possible, as soon as you add a second (or more) user the user account picture resizes, if it's password protected, when you select a user it will enlarge.
Maybe someone will come along with a better answer or a way to do it, I've never seen it myself.

You're welcome, you can keep checking back in case someone does know how to do it, I know I will, I'd like to know too.

Enjoy your stay here and welcome aboard.

greyoldchief:

There's some Welcome Screen tweakers out there. I have no idea if they will help, but it's a start.
Here's some links:

I had the same problem, found this fix, hope it helps you

1. Click the Start button and type regedit in the Search box. In the Results, Right Click regedit and select the Run as Administrator option.
Navigate to the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\Software\Fonts

2. Backup the value you will be changing.

Right click the Fonts key in the left pane, select Export. In the Save As dialog, select the Desktop as the save in location. In the File Name box type LogonBackup. Click the Save button.

If anything goes wrong, you can go to the Desktop, right click the LogonBackup.reg file and select Merge to restore the registry value.

3. In the right side pane, Double Click the LogPixels value. In the Edit dialog box, change the 2 digit value using the following guide.

60 -(100% Font Size) -Default size
78 -(125% Font Size)
90 -(150% Font Size)
4. Exit the Registry editor and restart the computer to test the results.

So if I wanted 200%, 250%, 300%, etc, can you tell me what the respective two digit values should be?

And can you confirm that changing these values only changes the log on screen icon sizes and no other icons such as those on the desktop? This may seem obvious but there are some comments out there that suggest changing these settings affects more than just the logon screen icons.

Thanks
