Autorun/autoplay across platforms

If I'm in the wrong area, please bear with me.

I've created a slide show in the form of a website on DVD.

I need to publish it for use on both PC, (it's fine on XP, Vista and 7 using simple .INF and .BAT files), but not on a Mac.

It seems I might have to purchase Toast (at $99) but I'm not happy that including this may allow cross-platform access.

This is a fairly important issue for me to resolve, so, any thoughts out there?
