Some good advice there. Windows 7 will work with just 1GB of RAM, indeed it can work with less, but its performance will not be satisfactory. I therefore recommend that you increase the amount of RAM to 2GB minimum. You will be better off replacing what you have already got with a 2GB kit or a 4GB kit (and hence enabling dual-channel memory, if your motherboard supports it) rather than getting an additional stick to what you have already got, unless you can match the specifications (timings and speed).

You might also try the following:
Disk Cleanup - Open and Use to free up any space on your HDD.
Virtual Memory Paging File - Change - Vista Forums to optimise your paging file (set to System managed size and Automatically manage paging file size for all drives).
Disk Defragmenter - Open and Use to rearrange data/files on your HDD so that it performs more efficiently.
