    Above Shortbar Disappears

Im not exactly sure what it is called, but I have windows 7 premium, and the bar at the top when you start the computer has disappered... it normally holds the following...

    -a mail icon
-windows media player shortcuts for music icon
    -the recycle bin icon
    -an internet explorer icon
    -a shortcut for documents icon
    -a picture viewer shortcut

and a few others i can't remember, it was already like that when i first got the computer so its a preloaded feature, but since i dont know what its called i cant find a fix for it... help?

hi TheGirlIsGood, and welcome to sevenforums, the place to post,

it sounds like a dock. some pc manufacturers, such as dell, stick one of these onto many default desktop.

i'm not sure why your's has dissappeared - it's either been hidden (autohide), uninstalled, or removed from the boot process.

type msconfig into your start-menu search-box (and hit enter) - see if there is an unticked box for a dock - this would prevent it from loading at boot.

if not, you can download a brand new free dock and customise it how you like - try rocketdock or objectdock - both similar and both free!

yes - give them a go!

they are easy to uninstall if you don't like them.

You could try a System Restore to a date just before the bar disappeared.
