Did Last known good config, now cant execute programs!

Weird problem.. My searches found similar problems but nothing that has helped me.
Problem - After a cold start my system gave a memory management BSOD, then restarted, but never actually made it to windows. each time it would make it to some point (different each time it seemed), flash a blue screen too fast for me to see it, then reboot.
When it gave me the option to fix startup issues it would scan for a bit, then flash a quick blue screen and reboot..
Finally I tried the last known good config. Got into windows, but all my taskbar shortcuts are gone, antivirus didnt load up, and i can execute any programs, even windows programs. the option to open is not even there when I right click.
If I try to open something from the RUN prompt (like cmd, or msconfig) if spits back an error that says, "no such interface supported".
most programs, like firefox, just do nothing when I double click them, and have no option for opening.

This is maybe a 2 week old system that has been running fine.
windows 7 pro, 64 bit.
any help would be sincerely appreciated!

Repair Install

This saves all your current info but puts the registry, boot, etc. back in order.

Last good config didn't work is the main reason I suggest a repair.

Thanks for the speedy reply! Repair install did cross my mind, but I was thinking of it as a last resort. I was hoping there was a fix to this, but maybe I underestimated the weirdness/toughness of this issue..

There may be a risk of a virus issue here, I wouldn't risk attempting to fix the issue and simply try a repair. If you have a backup handy, then do restore.

hmmm hadnt thought of that.. not cool. I hope thats not the case, but if it is will a repair install get rid of it? sorry if thats a dumb question.
Ive actually already started the repair, so at this point either way I guess its fingers crossed..

In most cases yes, but I would "scrub" the C: drive ONLY, (NOT THE RECOVERY OR ANY OTHER DRIVE).

But I would first see if you have a virus by going to a Internet Security/Antivirus web site and run a free scan first and see if it finds and fixes the issues your experiencing.

Added: If you get a pop-up window stating to close current window thats up to you, it might want all current windows closed, that is if you can connect and use IE/Firefox. Also ignore the upper bar stating previous window needs you download ...bla, bla, bla, ...Try the scan first and if it does need it, go ahead and install, its from MS so its safe.

There is a program I use called Drive Erase Pro / File Shredder and it comes with a boot up disk so it can be ran at restart boot to CD and it runs a basic UI and will allow me to select a drive/s to clean.

Just make sure you can run the recovery to "new-out-of-the-box" from a restart/boot screen press (whatever you need to) to run recovery before a scrub.

It shouldn't be a problem, and I'm not sure if there is a free version, but google
...free disk cleaner, free disk scrubber, etc if virus / malware is not detected. I've been doing this for every PC when I need to wipe a drive clean including C:, BUT I have a dell laptop and desktops that came with oem OS install disks, so I don't run recovery from the recovery drive, in fact its gone b/c I needed the space, I just reload the OS, Programs from CD/DVD and... (Ex: Adobe reader,flash, shock player, java) Windows Update, and reload all saved files like music and pics, etc.

Good Luck, and if you a scrub, remember to check the recovery process from restart method first, and if free of viruses, ...backup all your files, favorites/bookmarks, emails, pics, music, etc.
