Question: Drag Drop To Start Menu "Search" field?

Hi, firstly sorry if I have picked the wrong topic to ask this in.

I was hoping someone might know a way to "Drag and Drop" selected text from an application (eg Web Browser) to the Start Menu Search Field.

Currently, if I highlight text, I can drag it to the Start Button, hover over it for a couple of seconds, and the Start Menu opens. Then when I drag the text down to the Search Box a 'circle with slash' icon appears, so I can't drop the text into the Search Field.

Is it possible to enable a setting somewhere to allow this functionality?

    Thank you.

Not that I know of, although you can now use cut and paste to achieve the same result - not perfect but at least a usable workaround

Hi, I just Highlight whatever it is /right click and copy it, and then paste it into the search box, probably the same as Barman58 does.

You could try on DonationCoder.com There are lots of Hotkey programs there. Also if you don't find what you want there's a group in the Forum called Coding Snacks. Request it under New Requests if you don't see something that does it already. Something easy like this a programmer will either tell you of a program that already does it, or script up a little gizmo to do it. It keeps them off the street corners. :)

Thank you so much for the replies!

Copy and paste may have to do if I can't find a work around. I tend to prefer drag/drop.

Thanks MilesHead, I'm going to check that out. Would love to find a little script that could do it.

    Thanks again. :)
