Tweaking Win7 with 3rd party optimizers is the fastest way to mess it up. It will always come back to bite you. Win7 is already as lean and lightweight as it can be, perfectly balanced and optimized. Applying old XPired methods to it is like using '67 Dodge Dart tools on a new Lexus.
Until you get your XP programs all running in Win7, You can run XP virtually from within Win7, or Dual Boot it:

I have been able to get many older advanced graphics and video editing programs to work in Win7 through patient experimentation with Compatibility Mode and research on their latest software. Compatibility Mode
