Does that mean it shuts down correctly?
Re the adaptor..if you buy the one that converts your dvi output to vga then the Gateway will display whatever you were putting out via the DVI only in vga format.
Re the reporting...you could try asking the question to Microsoft re 64 bit.
Does that mean it shuts down correctly? Yes! You were right on the money! I checked this link DVI and VGA explained and there are different cables so I would not know which one to get at this time. I'll probably have to check with the store's tech to see what video card is installed.
I will look into reporting the "issue" to Microsoft.

Good to hear all's well!!Last tip... you can get an adaptor that connect to the DVI output on your card and then connect to the monitor via a standard VGA cable! here's a link to Amazon..
