I believe that booting up in safe-mode resolves the problem.
Power button > F8 (or whatever button is used for boot options) > Safe Mode > Control Panel > User Acc Options, then you should be able to edit account settings.

Ok this morning I ran safe mode and then restore .. success now back on the main page (desktop) here I now longer have the yes key grayed out .. So will now navigate thru this UAC settings and try and get the PC to be the way \i want it....

I slid the bar to the very bottom and hopefully that will turn it off....

I've never needed this type of security for windows XP .. so we should be ok ....

The value of these nag warnings is to remind you that you are authorizing something to be done to change the OS.

Supposedly there might be a time when you didn't authorize this when it clues you to something running you're not aware of. I've yet to see evidence of this, but some Users surely need to be reminded that they are about to do something which could be critiical to the OS's operation so they will think twice.

trouble was with the so called nag warning,, was I would slip in a cd for a new program to run .. and the nag came up.. with Yes or No... to accept ...

BUT The Yes was greyed out,... so guess what? .. No install...... ..

I had to turn off this nag as it was going to be in the way very much in the months ahead ....

But if I was living in an environment of a lot of strangers who may have access to the keyboards .. I would acccept this...
