    upgrade OS

I'm getting ready to upgrade my OS to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. So I have a couple of questions. I have MS Office ultimate which was upgraded from Home&Student version. Do I need to uninstall that software before I change/upgrade my OS. Do I need to do this for any other software like this that I may have? I'm asking because I remember hearing something about that if I left it on and then did a clean install of 7 Ultimate that Office would not register because of it all ready being registered. Yes I have Office Ultimate on 3 machines right now.

Its not clear from your post whether you plan to do an anytime upgrade (in-place upgrade) to Ultimate or a clean install. If its an upgrade install, you dont need to uninstall Office or any other software, it should just work.

OTOH, if you do a clean install, everything will be wiped out including any app installs, so you'll have to reinstall all your apps. That shouldnt be a problem either- Office retail activation is similar to win7 so on the same machine, it would just work. The same caveat applies here- if it doesnt, call the MS office helpline.

You don't say what you're upgrading from, whether 32 or 64 bit. If it's 64, you can upgrade. If it's 32, you can't.

Other wise your installed software should keep working just fine.

This assumes that what you have listed as your OS is still accurate. (Windows 7 Home Premium)

Uninstalling Office will not unregister the software, infact there is no unregistering.
Just reinstall and reactivate, if required, do it by phone.
