So are we calling this a definite fake then?
If you merge 7231.vhd with 7201 you will have lots of 7201, but 7231 was merged with 7229, that is why the majority of 7231 is 7229. Using VHD for Win7 is like using slipstream on Whistler (XP). Its real.. install then check your license via
cmd (run as Admin) type slmgr.vbs -dlv wait for the popup.
It's appearing on several sites now, each stating "[CONFIRMED FAKE]"...
There has been no hints or rumours on any of the normal sites. normally the tech news sites get a wiff of something but there's been nothing, up until now with the confirmed fake note.
everyone is saying around the 19th give or take a day or two, but hey.. who knows lately :)
I think this is not exactly true; at best maybe half-truth. Just for the heck of it, in my 7231 build x86 installation, i counted only 364 files from 7229 build as against 2,336 files of the 7231 build. This count are the files in the system32 subdirectory, not counting the files within subdirectories of system32. I did not check other subdirectories within windows directory.Snuffy said:
Eh, screw all this merging crap, I'm stickin with build 7201 until a build that is actually worth upgrading to is leaked. The RTM is supposedly gonna be leaked in the next few days anyway :P
Well, from what I've read 7229 is pretty much the same as 7201. So I don't really see any point upgrading as theres not that many changes, not that there is going to be this late in the game, so I figured I might aswell wait for the RTM. And 7227 + 7231 seem a little dodgey so I ain't going near them, not that there has been that many changes made to them anyways.
