Windows 7 - no desktoop icon?

where's the desktop icon on the taskbar? that is a very crucial icon
because when i need to access the desktop one click on it and all my things are displayed. this is the biggest reason making me wanna switch back to xp.

is there anyway to have the desktop icon back on the taskbar? tweaks reg. edits?

Hi, fdsa, and welcome to the forum.

There is and there isn't a desktop icon - on the far right of the taskbar is a small vertical bar that you can hover over to see the desktop - or you can click it to minimize all windows and show the desktop.

oh... sweet.
but why on the far right? if its on the far left (like right after the start button) wouldn't that make more sense? since all your other stuff is to the right beside it(openned or not). easier access instead of pushing my ibm's red nipple making it all the way to the right.... then back.

Yeah, I wish you could move it too, but I guess it also makes some sense where it is. I don't have to guess if I want to "peek" at my desktop, just move my mouse all the way to the right and down. It took some getting used to, and even though I'm used to it now, I still wish you could move it.

Or, you could just hit Windows key + D....

That shortcut has been there since WinXP....and it still works.
